Lindsey's mother, Claudia, gifted me some beautiful fabric that I was very excited to receive. Part of the fabric she gave me was some really fun girly flannels. I could see that there was probably enough to get at least four lap quits out of it. As I thought of who I could make a quilt for, a family of four young girls came to mind. I thought that I could secretly make these warm blankets for Christmas for them. This project was very dear to me. It reminded me that as a young girl someone secretly gave my family a pile of warm fleece blankets. I remember being so grateful for my blanket that year and for a long time after that. When I go home to my parent's house, I still find those blankets that have lasted all these years.

I am grateful to Claudia for this very kind gift. It was her generosity that sparked the idea in the first place and then made it possible.

Cambria was today's photographer!

Damon gracing us.

I love the puppy dog backing! I had enough of it to use for two of the backings.

This one is my favorite color combination. I like the blue. The only problem was that the backing on this one was not long enough for Lainey to quilt it! I have never had that happen before. Damon and I double check the backs. Lainey sent me a text asking what I wanted her to do about it. She said she could just add some of her own flannel. I thought that would be a good solution. I told her to go for it and to just charge me for her extra time and fabric. I think it's amazing that she just had this flannel in her stash that matched perfectly to my backing.

Also, Lainey did all the binding. She is the best!

The placement of the squares always turns out different from what I plan. When I had the colors all laid out before I sewed them they were more evenly placed.

I had ran out of flannel by the time I got to this backing and so I used cotton fabric, which was also given to me by Claudia. I love this backing and think it's so fun!
I love making quits for girls. I don't get to do it as often as I would like to, so to get to make these was a real treat for me.

Lindsey's annual Halloween stitchery!

You can see Lainey's quilting a little bit better on this one. She always does an awesome job.

Brenda's annual Halloween gift.
I didn't make a stitchery for her this year.
This little, single square is what I gave her and she seemed to like it.

New Beginnings

I made this quilt for Nan Isaacson, for her grandbaby. The RS did a service auction and I put in a baby quilt and she won. I am really sad about the binding. I couldn't decide on what color to use. I thought this one was going to work. I gave it to Lainey and when I got it back it was obvious that is the wrong color of binding for this quilt. Ugh! I'm so sad. I should have use a red or grey. It seriously kills me.
